The
African Lovebird & Foreign Parrot Society of
Queensland Inc is a group of Aviculturists
(bird keepers) who get together each month and share experiences and
knowledge with other aviculturists and beginners.
The society promotes the enjoyment of keeping aviary and companion birds,
their care through sound knowledge and practices, and the maintenance
of quality breeding stock. We provide a means for members to share information,
access to quality birds, discounted supplies and to participate in various
events, including bird shows.
We believe showing birds helps maintain the genetic quality of birds, especially
for foreign birds in Australia where limited supply reduces genetic variety.
Though our main focus is on lovebirds and foreign parrots, many members are
keen aviculturists and experienced members may have that helpful advice
you might need about anything from exotic parrot mutations to your pet zebra
finch.
Meetings are a friendly affair and visitors
are welcome, even if just for a look to see what we are about or to ask
for a bit of advice about your birds. Also, you can contact us
with any questions you may have.
Happy bird keeping!
